Gabriel Morariu about Concord Iasi Open and BCR Iasi Open
For me, it was the second year in Iași. In 2022, when I attended only the women's tournament, I was pleasantly impressed.
Over the years, I've been fortunate to be present at the most important arenas in the world. To see how Grand Slam tournaments, the Champions Tournament, or WTA 1000 level competitions are organized. And in a certain way, the tournament at Baza Ciric is up there. The comparison might seem forced, and if we think about the number of courts, the seating capacity, or the names participating in these competitions, there is an obvious difference. But that's not what I want to refer to. I'm talking about the human quality of those who are involved in this tournament. A competition that has found its place in the hearts of the people from Iași and beyond in just two years. Ever since I entered the venue, I was greeted with a warmth that I rarely encountered. From small to big, each one involved in this tournament tries to create a unique experience for you. To show openness and make you feel that you can rely on them when needed.
This year, I had the opportunity to be present at both competitions organized in Iași.
I commented on the matches for Digi Sport at the Concord Iași Open and BCR Iași Open. It was two full weeks, with many spectacular matches, with days that ended late into the night, under the floodlights, with many twists and turns.
The success of the BCR Iași Open was greatly contributed to by the victories of the players from our country, and the dream final between Irina Begu and Ana Bogdan. A week full of emotions, where the fans in the stands cheered our girls on frenetically. The tournament was a success also because the final was a 100% Romanian one. But when you do things by the book, when you put a lot of heart into it, it's normal for fate to smile upon you!
