We enthusiastically announce the list of players who have confirmed their participation in this year's competition, transforming Iași into the capital of women’s tennis.

Among them, we proudly mention Jaqueline Cristian, currently one of Romania’s highest-ranked players in the world; Ana Bogdan, two-time winner of the Iași women’s tournament; Irina Begu, multiple WTA champion in both singles and doubles; and Anca Todoni, part of the new wave of impressive Romanian players.

The surprises of this tournament include Sorana Cîrstea, participating for the first time in the Iași tournament, and Mihaela Buzărnescu, who is returning this summer to Ciric after a significant break from tennis.

“I am confident that this could be a historic edition, as we have 8 Romanian players confirmed in the main draw: Jaqueline Cristian, Sorana Cîrstea, Ana Bogdan, Irina Begu, Anca Todoni, Mihaela Buzărnescu, Miriam Bulgaru, and Patricia Țig. Depending on the qualification results, this year’s UniCredit Iași Open could feature the highest number of Romanian players ever in the main draw of a WTA competition. Alongside them, other big names in world tennis will be present. With players from at least 4 continents and 16 countries, the composition of the draw offers encouraging prospects for the international promotion of Iași. In 2025, UniCredit Iași Open is the most important women’s clay tournament across a region of 500 million people, offering not only top-level sports entertainment but also an essential platform for promoting tennis. We strongly believe that access to such an event is vital to inspire younger generations and to strengthen Romania’s place on the world tennis map. We hope to enjoy world-class tennis together!” (Andrei Oriță, Iași Open license holder)

“Since 2020, Iași has appeared on the European and global tennis map. Hosting both ATP Challenger and WTA 125 tournaments in the same location is a feat achieved by few cities. After two excellent editions of WTA 125, the step up to a WTA 250 was logical, though unexpected for 2024 — the UniCredit Iași Open 2024 edition appeared as a result of relocating the tournament from Hamburg. The 2025 edition is special, as Andrei Oriță and his team have secured a multi-year license, ensuring stability and, together with partners, the City Hall, and tennis lovers in the city, making possible the construction of an attractive, solid, modern event dedicated, as always, to Romanian athletes and offered for global viewing. I would like to thank, on this occasion, the City Hall, partners, sponsors, and the people of Iași who make this wonderful tournament possible, and I invite all sports enthusiasts to visit us in large numbers!" (Daniel Dobre, Tournament Director, UniCredit Iași Open)
