The Ciric Sports Base in Iasi is preparing for a new major event in world tennis. On Sunday, July 21, the 3rd edition of the Iasi Open women's tournament will begin. After two editions of the WTA 125 category, this year the women's tournament from Iași, the UniCredit Iași Open, has increased in category and will be WTA 250, with top world players on the board.

Two of the world's tennis stars are at the top of the seed list at the Iasi tournament.
In the main draw will be Mirra Andreeva, 17, WTA number 31, the youngest player in the Top 100, a semi-finalist this year at Roland Garros, as well as Yulia Putintseva, from Kazakhstan, 29, WTA number 29. Yulia recently produced the big surprise at Wimbledon after her successful victory over Poland's world number 1 Iga Swiatek in the 3rd round in London.
Other top players will be present on the main draw in Iasi, including the German Tatjana Maria (60 WTA) and Laura Siegemund (64 WTA), the Dutch Arantxa Rus (62 WTA), our athlete Jaqueline Cristian (66 WTA), as well ace Anna Blinkova (74).
After achieving the first victory of her career in the WTA circuit at the previous edition of the Iași Open, Anca Todoni returns to the competition at Baza Ciric. She has climbed more than 600 places in the past year and a half, and now sits at a career-best No. 118 WTA.
The draw and the press conference, scheduled for Saturday, July 20, at the Ciric Sports Base. The press conference will start at 12.30 and the draw for the main draw will take place immediately at 13.00.
Also on Saturday, between 11.00 and 16.00, we have Media Day, and journalists can make requests for female players for interviews.
The finals of the UniCredit Iasi Open tournament will be played on Friday, July 26
The tournament will begin on Saturday, July 20 with the qualifiers and conclude on Friday, July 26 with the two finals. The doubles final will start at 15.00, and the singles at 17.00. The contest in Iasi, whose director is the renowned coach Daniel Dobre, will end on Friday, and not on Sunday, as is usual, since Friday, July 26, is the day of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, and the The WTA imposed this rule that the tournament ends on the opening day of the Olympics.
On Saturday, July 20, the qualifying matches start at 10.30 a.m., with the first matches scheduled for Sunday, the day the main draw begins, at the same time.
Starting on Monday, July 22, we will have two sessions each. Raluca Olaru will play the retirement match in Iasi
In addition to the matches on the scoreboard, the public from Iasi will also enjoy a match full of emotion. On Monday, July 22, after playing the last match on the schedule, Raluca Olaru, 35 years old, former number 53 in the world ranking in 2009, will play the retirement match.
All the Romanian players present in Iasi will participate in the event.
